Introduction
The Langtang Himal – Gosainkund Trek is a scenic and culturally rich adventure, combining the pristine beauty of Langtang Himal with the sacred ambiance of Gosainkund Lake.
The trek begins with an overland drive from Kathmandu → Rasuwa → Syabrubesi, where your walk starts toward the Langtang Valley. The trail follows the Bhote Kosi River, cutting through dense rhododendron and pine forests — habitat for rare wildlife, including the elusive Red Panda.
Trekking gradually to Kyanjin Gompa, travelers are surrounded by giant peaks of the Langtang Himal and views of Dorji Lakpa and Mt. Shisapangma across the Tibetan border.
From Kyanjin, the journey continues toward higher ridges with panoramic views of Langtang-Jugal-Ganesh-Manaslu ranges, eventually reaching the sacred Gosainkund Lake, an important pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. During August (Hindu lunar calendar), thousands of pilgrims visit to bathe in the icy glacial pond.
The return route passes through scenic villages such as Kutumsang and Chisapani, offering sunrise views over majestic Himalayan peaks. The trek concludes at Sundarijal, northeast of Kathmandu, followed by a short drive back to your hotel.
This trek combines scenic wilderness, cultural immersion, and spiritual experiences, making it one of the most memorable adventures in Central Nepal, with excellent services from Marson Wilderness Treks.
